MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon and shear line will bring rain to some parts of the country on Friday, December 6, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a 4 a.m. weathercast Friday, Pagasa specialist Benison Estareja said the two weather systems still influence atmospheric conditions nationwide, especially in the northern sections of Luzon.

A shear line occurs when the northeast monsoon – locally termed “amihan” – converges with easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, according to Pagasa.

Luzon’s central and southern portions, as well as Palawan and most parts of Visayas, especially the eastern section, will see moderate cloudy skies due to localized thunderstorms.

For many areas in Mindanao, Estareja said weather will be generally good on Friday although moderate cloudy skies and rain are still anticipated to occur in some places of the region.
“Pagsapit ng hapon hanggang gabi, mas maraming lugar sa Mindanao lalo sa gitnang bahagi ang magkakaroon ng isolated rain showers or thunderstorms na usually hindi nagtatagal,” he stated.
